@cutelgp72 You’re right! Since the car manufacturers are no longer giving great deals to car rental companies, the free upgrade is a thing of the past. However, it is usually cheaper to pay for an upgrade when you are at the rental counter, and you are better able to specify the car you are willing to pay extra for.

WOW!! This lady is pretty far off of the mark on some points. I find that most of the time the best rates are available WITHOUT having a reservation. As far as book a small car and hope that all the small cars are already gone goes…..it is exactly the opposite! Most of the time the fleet is full of compact and sub-compact cars so be prepared to upgrade and pay for that upgrade. .
